About the position

The Private Awards Manager at The Nature Conservancy (TNC) plays a vital role in the Private Awards Shared Services Team, which is part of the Private Awards Center of Excellence (PACE). This position is responsible for overseeing finance and accounting activities related to private awards, ensuring compliance with TNC policies and financial standards. The role involves managing a team of Private Award Specialists, optimizing processes, and collaborating with finance leadership to support TNC's mission of conservation. The position is flexible in location, preferably within the Eastern Hemisphere, and emphasizes a commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the activities and personnel of a team of Private Award Specialists.
  • Oversee finance and accounting activities related to private awards.
  • Ensure compliance with TNC policies, financial standards, and legal requirements.
  • Develop and coordinate tactics for approved plans to meet strategic priorities.
  • Supervise and monitor workloads for the team, ensuring accountability and performance.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert on Private Awards, providing guidance and support.
  • Collaborate with BU Finance Leadership to build effective relationships and share knowledge.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
  • 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination.
  • Expert knowledge of GAAP and/or relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience with financial interpretation and analysis.
  • Technical experience with spreadsheet programs and financial management tools.
  • Experience recruiting, supervising, and developing staff.
  • Professional proficiency/fluency in English (written and oral).

Nice-to-haves

  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience.
  • Experience with the Insight Project Cost and Billing Module (PCB), Workday, or other grant tracking systems.
  • Advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with U.S. Federal Uniform Guidance and international government regulations.
  • Certified Public Accountant or equivalent certification.
