About the position

The Private Client Banker (PCB) at KeyBank serves as a trusted advisor to clients with up to $2M in investable assets, focusing on their financial wellness through a plan-based approach. The PCB is responsible for assessing client needs, delivering tailored financial solutions, and referring clients to appropriate financial services. This role emphasizes building strong client relationships and ensuring compliance with banking policies while supporting branch operations.

Responsibilities

  • Embodies a strong client experience culture, being present with every client and teammate.
  • Listen for clues for financial wellness opportunities during client conversations and provide effective and customized financial wellness recommendations.
  • Consistently attains individual activity, behavior, and outcome expectations.
  • Builds a client referral pipeline via identification and development of internal and external centers of influence.
  • Develops and maintains an in-depth knowledge of private client products and services.
  • Opening personal and business accounts including various deposit products and lending options.
  • Developing strong partnerships with branch teammates and line of business partners.
  • Ensuring compliance with operational, risk, security and audit procedures and policies.
  • Support of branch operations including assisting with client transactions on the Teller line as needed.
  • Participate in and occasionally facilitate morning huddles and end of day debriefs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, with flexibility to adapt to new responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience (required) or Bachelor's Degree (preferred).
  • Experience in developing current and new customer relationships, achieving sales goals and building referral sources in insurance and investment products (required).
  • Foundational knowledge of sales and service techniques with clients, including tele-consulting, outside calling, prospecting and networking (required).
  • Interpersonal interaction skills and an ability to build rapport in a matter of minutes (required).
  • Demonstrated experience with influencing business partners and leveraging centers of influence (required).
  • Working knowledge of PCs (MS Windows and Office Products including Word, Excel, etc.) (required).
  • Working knowledge of digital technology and ability to educate clients on digital platforms (required).
  • Comfortable interacting with small business clients, overcoming objections, and asking fact-finding questions (preferred).
