About the position

The Private Duty Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing skilled nursing care to patients in accordance with their care plans and physician orders. This role involves continuous assessment of patient conditions, documentation of care activities, and education of patients and families regarding health management. The nurse must adhere to professional standards and regulations while ensuring quality patient care in various environments.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver and coordinate quality patient care in compliance with physician orders.
  • Continuously observe and assess patient condition and care needs, reporting changes to the supervisor or physician.
  • Document all activities, assessments, nursing actions, and coordination of care in a timely manner.
  • Develop, implement, and update the nursing care plan based on patient assessments.
  • Recognize changes in patient needs and implement appropriate nursing actions to prevent or reduce risks.
  • Educate patients and families on disease processes, self-care techniques, and prevention strategies.
  • Maintain knowledge of nursing competencies through participation in educational programs and skill evaluations.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate, or Baccalaureate School of Nursing.
  • Current, unrestricted state license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in clinical assessments, documentation, and compliance with nursing care policies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Six months of recent experience as a Licensed Nurse in a clinical care setting.
  • Home health experience.
