About the position

The Managing Director role within State Street's Alternative Investments Private Market Services Business Unit is a senior-level management position focused on executive interaction with key clients and internal stakeholders. This role emphasizes the development and execution of business plans, client relationship management, and oversight of service delivery to ensure client satisfaction. The position requires strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple assignments under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute overall business plans in partnership with clients.
  • Manage relationships with key client contacts to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Oversee all daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly deliverables for assigned clients.
  • Coordinate production calendars with clients and internal support areas.
  • Ensure processes and procedures meet quality standards and are regularly reviewed.
  • Identify and act on high-risk processes to prevent financial loss.
  • Direct and train subordinate managers and staff, addressing employee concerns.
  • Meet performance planning requirements including goal setting and feedback.
  • Communicate company initiatives and goals to managers and staff.
  • Develop department budget and staffing projections.
  • Complete staffing proposals for newly awarded business.
  • Assess operational effectiveness and suggest improvements.
  • Develop ideas for new products and services to meet client needs.
  • Participate in new business generation processes and represent the organization as a senior manager.
  • Spearhead special projects and serve on committees.

Requirements

  • College degree in business, mathematics, finance, or economics; accounting degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of accounting and/or financial service operations experience.
  • Solid business unit management experience with complex clients requiring high client interaction.
  • MBA and/or CPA preferred.
  • Knowledge of Private Equity Fund structures and accounting technology such as Investran.
  • Familiarity with Private Equity Fund Services quarterly deliverables.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of upstream and downstream technology solutions for automation in servicing private markets.
  • Familiarity with other alternative investment structures.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range of $160,000 - $250,000 annually.
