About the position

The Mobile Crisis Community Support Specialist position at BJC HealthCare is a PRN role that involves responding to clients in active crisis who have reached out to the 988 mobile crisis hotline. This position is crucial in providing immediate in-person assessment and support to individuals of all ages within the BJC Behavioral Health catchment area, which includes St. Louis County, parts of St. Louis City, Iron County, Washington County, and St. Francois County. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services and is designed for individuals who are comfortable working in high-stress situations and can adapt quickly to changing environments. As a Mobile Crisis Community Support Specialist, you will not have a caseload; instead, your primary responsibility will be to respond to crisis hotline calls as needed. You will work alongside another team member to provide support and intervention in various community settings, such as homes, parks, stores, and other public locations. The position operates on an evening shift from 4 PM to 12:30 AM, with the possibility of working up to 20 hours per week, including alternating weekends. Team members will have access to a company vehicle for responding to calls, ensuring that personal vehicles are not required for work purposes. The ideal candidate will possess skills in crisis management, be open to feedback and training, and demonstrate a strong ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and leaders. The role emphasizes a solutions-oriented approach, focusing on the strengths and resources of clients to promote recovery and resilience. This position is part of a 24/7/365 program, highlighting the need for flexibility and teamwork in addressing the needs of individuals in crisis.

Responsibilities

  • Provides community support services to complex clients, including those on care plans, using treatment plan interventions that result in positive outcomes based on individual strengths and needs.
  • Completes timely documentation of services that clearly describe the need for the service, the intervention provided, the relationship to the treatment plan, the provider of the service, the date, the actual time and setting of the service, and the individual's response to the service.
  • Contacts individuals and/or referral sources following missed appointments to re-engage and promote recovery/resiliency efforts.
  • Supports individuals in crisis situations.
  • Provides mentorship and job shadowing to community support colleagues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or a related field is required.
  • No prior experience is needed for this position, making it suitable for entry-level candidates.
  • Must possess a Class D (IL) or Class E (MO) license.
