About the position
The PRN Breast Ultrasound Technologist at Memorial Hermann Health System is responsible for performing ultrasound procedures that assist physicians in diagnosing and treating patients. This role emphasizes high-quality patient care, safety, and efficiency while fostering a compassionate and personalized experience for every patient.
Responsibilities
- Performs ultrasound/sonography procedures on patients, including preparing and positioning them for exams.
- Explains procedures to patients and selects appropriate imaging techniques.
- Ensures technical quality of ultrasound images and enters patient data accurately.
- Conducts quality assurance on ultrasound equipment and assists with accreditation applications.
- Identifies and reports accidents, complaints, or equipment malfunctions to management.
- Takes emergency calls within the department as needed.
- Adheres to all policies, procedures, and standards while managing time and resources effectively.
- Promotes professional growth by meeting continuing education requirements and serving as a mentor to less experienced staff.
- Models compassionate care and provides personalized experiences to patients and colleagues.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology or Sonography Technology.
- Certified in Basic or Advanced Life Support.
- Registered Sonographer by ARRT-S, ARRT-VS, RDMS, RDCS, RVT, RCIS, RCS, RVS, RCCS, or ARRT-BS.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in performing routine vascular studies and obtaining vascular registry within the specified timeframe.
