About the position

The PRN - CNA School Aide position at Amergis involves providing instructional and behavioral assistance to students in a school setting, under the supervision of the special education department. The role includes supporting students with personal and therapeutic care needs, facilitating learning activities, and ensuring adherence to confidentiality requirements. Responsibilities

  • Follow through with IEP objectives including math, reading, speech, and independent skills.
  • Facilitate teacher-directed learning activities including lesson plans and small group work.
  • Assist students in general education classes as needed.
  • Communicate pertinent information to teachers regarding student progress.
  • Accompany students during recess, lunch, and community experiences.
  • Adhere to confidentiality requirements regarding student and parent information.
  • Assist with activities prescribed by related service personnel such as PT, OT, and SLP.
  • Support students in developing independent skills through self-care activities.
  • Assist in behavior management techniques as directed by the teacher.
  • Help teachers with clerical duties including making copies and preparing materials.
  • Assist with transfers and ambulation of students.
  • Report changes in client status as directed.

Requirements

  • Comply with all relevant professional standards of practice.
  • Participate in and complete Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
  • Hold current CPR certification if applicable.
  • Complete TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable.
  • Possess a current health certificate as per contract or state regulation.
  • Meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successfully complete new hire training as applicable to job site.
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and proficiency in English.
  • Exhibit computer proficiency.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
