About the position

As a part-time Emergency Medical Technician (EMT Basic) at LCMC Health, you will be an integral member of an elite emergency care team, responding to urgent medical situations and providing high-quality basic life support in prehospital settings or hospital emergency departments. This role requires emotional strength, teamwork, and the ability to think quickly in high-pressure situations, as you assess and treat patients of all ages with various illnesses and injuries.

Responsibilities

• Respond to dispatch information and drive emergency vehicles to specified locations.
• Stabilize ill or injured persons by extricating them and rendering first aid.
• Utilize medical equipment and procedures to provide advanced medical care.
• Recognize deviations or changes in the patient's health condition.
• Maintain vehicles and medical supplies in accordance with applicable standards.
• Document activities regarding patient care and billing completely.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians as an EMT/B.
• Licensed in Louisiana as an EMT/B.
• Current chauffeur's license or equivalent.
• American Heart Association BLS certification.

Nice-to-haves

• 1 year of experience as an EMT Basic.
• Defensive driving course certification.
