About the position

The Facilities Manager at STARRY, Inc. is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, operations, and safety of the organization's physical facilities, including satellite locations. This role requires a strong understanding of building systems, safety protocols, and sustainability practices, along with the ability to manage multiple projects and locations effectively. The Facilities Manager will ensure compliance with safety regulations and oversee various facility-related tasks to support the organization's mission of nurturing children and strengthening families.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular inspections of all properties to assess condition and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Oversee all aspects of maintenance, including scheduling repairs and managing maintenance budgets.
  • Manage water delivery services and maintain water systems within the facility.
  • Develop and enforce safety protocols to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Review potential lease properties and assess current properties for long-term viability.
  • Plan and conduct regular disaster drills to ensure staff preparedness.
  • Manage the delivery, setup, and disposal of technology equipment.
  • Perform minor repairs to ensure facility functionality and safety.
  • Source and manage relationships with contractors and vendors for various services.
  • Implement environmentally sustainable practices to reduce the organization's environmental impact.
  • Prepare and manage facility-related budgets for repairs and maintenance.
  • Maintain up-to-date emergency response plans and train staff on procedures.
  • Coordinate with leadership to optimize office space and facility layout.
  • Manage keys and access control systems for all facilities.
  • Oversee the facilities and operations of all satellite locations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners and local businesses.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities management or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) and maintenance practices.
  • Experience with managing water delivery systems and overseeing maintenance of water dispensers.
  • Knowledge of key management systems and security procedures.
  • Experience managing multiple locations, including remote or satellite facilities.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and OSHA guidelines.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in facilities management software or maintenance tracking systems.
  • Ability to perform basic repairs and coordinate larger maintenance projects.
  • Passion for the nonprofit mission and commitment to social impact.

Nice-to-haves

  • CPR, First Aid, or other emergency response certifications preferred.
  • Knowledge of sustainability practices and green building certifications (e.g., LEED) is a plus.
  • Experience with space planning and facility design is preferred.
