About the position

The PRN Hospital Pharmacist at Cardinal Health is responsible for the safe and efficient management of pharmacy operations at PAM Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Golden. This role involves verifying physician orders, adjusting and dispensing medications, supervising pharmacy technicians, and ensuring compliance with pharmacy regulations. The pharmacist will also provide patient education and manage narcotics and inventory control, contributing to improved patient care quality and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Verifies physician orders for medications using pharmacy information system and addresses automated alerts regarding drug type and dosage.
  • Supervises Pharmacy Technicians to ensure compliant and efficient pharmacy operations, providing guidance on complex prescriptions and pharmacy automation systems.
  • Adjusts dosages based on established protocols, ensuring appropriateness for the patient's condition and other medications.
  • Educates patients on the proper use and expected effects of medications, especially for those on multiple medications or new regimens.
  • Manages narcotics and inventory control, including documentation and audits of outdated medications.
  • Contacts Nurses and Physicians to verify orders and obtain additional information as necessary.
  • Assists the Pharmacy Director in maintaining pharmacy accreditation and implementing operational changes.

Requirements

  • Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.
  • Licensed pharmacist in good standing in the state of Colorado.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts and on-call as needed.
  • In-patient hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
  • IV experience preferred.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to communicate clearly with healthcare professionals.
  • Computer savvy to operate multiple pharmacy information systems.

  • Experience in a hospital pharmacy setting.
  • Experience with IV medications.
