About the position

The Intake Representative for Occupational Medicine at Memorial Hermann is responsible for facilitating occupational injuries through the emergency center. This role acts as a liaison between patients, medical and nursing staff, employers, and other ancillary services, ensuring efficient communication and coordination of care.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate occupational injuries through the emergency center.
• Act as a liaison between patients, medical and nursing staff, employers, and ancillary services.
• Communicate with employers, hospital departments, medical and nursing staff regarding patient status.
• Process return-to-work forms and obtain medical staff signatures.
• Collect and process drug testing requirements accurately.
• Scan and email medically needed information to appropriate recipients.
• Coordinate test pickups with couriers and provide patients with physician-issued prescriptions.
• Maintain and restock supplies as needed.
• Adhere to Compliance/Program Integrity requirements and HIPAA regulations.
• Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting education and skills competency requirements.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certified/Registered Medical Assistant or Emergency Medical Technician preferred.
• One year or more of business office experience in a hospital, emergency room, or medical office environment preferred.
• Knowledgeable in OSHA record sensitivity, Workman's Compensation, and Occupational Medicine services preferred.
• Excellent customer service and telephone etiquette skills required.
• Effective oral and written communication skills are necessary.
• Ability to organize, prioritize, and multi-task.
