About the position

The PRN Lactation Consultant Educator (Non RN) at Baptist Health is responsible for providing breastfeeding education, counseling, and care to mothers and their families. This role involves telephone and outpatient consultations, working closely with the healthcare team to deliver multidisciplinary services. The position aims to support mothers in providing breastfeeding as nutritional support for their infants, while also planning, implementing, and evaluating lactation needs for new parents.

Responsibilities

• Provide breastfeeding education and counseling to mothers and families.
• Conduct telephone and outpatient consultations regarding lactation.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to deliver multidisciplinary services to lactating mothers.
• Plan, implement, and evaluate lactation needs of new parents and their families.
• Observe, assess, and record work, safety, and infection control standards.
• Resolve customer complaints and concerns related to lactation services.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college preferred.
• Two years of current lactation education required.
• Specialty certification for assigned unit (NRP, BCLS, and IBCLC) required.
• Knowledge of HIPAA standards and regulations.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
