About the position

The PRN Lactation Consultant RN at Menorah Medical Center is responsible for providing lactation support services and clinical management for breastfeeding mothers and infants. This role involves collaboration with healthcare professionals and families to ensure effective breastfeeding practices, addressing challenges such as latching difficulties and low milk production. The consultant will utilize their expertise to assess, plan, intervene, and evaluate the care provided to mothers and infants, while also staying updated on the latest research and practices in lactation consulting.

Responsibilities

• Provide lactation support services and clinical management for breastfeeding mothers and infants.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals, families, and significant others in the care of breastfeeding mothers and infants.
• Assess, plan, intervene, and evaluate the breastfeeding process for mothers and infants.
• Identify and prevent breastfeeding problems, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of care.
• Communicate effectively with all parties involved in the care of mothers and infants.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program; Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
• Current Kansas licensure required.
• International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification required.
• Minimum of 3 years clinical experience in maternal/neonatal nursing.
• Demonstrates knowledge and practical application of theories and principles of ILCA.
