About the position
The Charge Nurse at Harris Health and Rehab is responsible for supervising the daily nursing activities within the facility, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role involves administrative duties, direct patient care, and coordination of nursing services to maintain high-quality care for residents. The Charge Nurse is also tasked with overseeing nursing staff, managing medication administration, and ensuring proper documentation and reporting of patient care activities.
Responsibilities
- Supervise day-to-day nursing activities in accordance with regulations.
- Ensure adherence to the Nursing Service Procedures Manual.
- Coordinate nursing services with other resident services.
- Complete medical forms, reports, and evaluations as necessary.
- Participate in the facility's quality assurance program.
- Review and update resident discharge plans as required.
- Admit, transfer, and discharge residents as necessary.
- Chart all accidents/incidents involving residents and follow established procedures.
- Prepare and administer medications as ordered by physicians.
- Monitor staffing needs and develop work assignments for nursing personnel.
- Conduct daily rounds to ensure nursing staff are performing their duties correctly.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment in nursing service areas.
- Review care plans daily and update as residents' conditions change.
Requirements
- Valid LPN license required.
- Experience in care plans and nursing documentation.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local healthcare regulations.
- Ability to supervise and lead nursing staff effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in long-term care facilities.
- Certification in geriatric nursing or related fields.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification.
