About the position

The Supplemental Occupational Therapist at Memorial Hermann is responsible for assessing patients and developing individualized treatment plans to enhance their occupational performance and independence. This role involves comprehensive evaluations, documentation of patient progress, and providing instruction to patients and caregivers. The therapist also plays a key role in mentoring staff, supervising clinical interns, and contributing to departmental programs and community service initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses patients and develops treatment plans based on evaluation results.
  • Documents findings and progress, providing instruction to patients and caregivers.
  • Supervises assistants and rehabilitation technicians regarding patient care.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, caregivers, and professional colleagues.
  • Implements occupational therapy treatment programs and monitors patient progress.
  • Acts as a clinical resource for staff and participates in departmental committees.
  • Mentors and trains staff or supervises clinical interns.
  • Participates in community service functions as a representative of the profession.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or graduate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners license required.
  • One year of experience preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to mentor/train staff or supervise clinical interns.
  • Demonstrates expertise in treatment for specific patient populations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in program development within the department.
  • Ability to present topics in professional literature at meetings and conferences.
