The Emergency Room at Overland Park Regional Medical Center is a 23-bed department known for its excellent teamwork and shared governance, allowing nurses to have a significant impact on departmental decisions. The facility is recognized as an accredited chest pain center, a comprehensive stroke center, and a level two trauma center, providing a unique learning environment for nurses to enhance their skills and knowledge while caring for complex patients. In this role, the Registered Nurse will coordinate and provide patient care under the general direction of the Director or Manager. The nurse will be responsible for assessing patients, triaging based on immediate needs, and delivering nursing care in accordance with hospital policies, state Nursing Practice Acts, and professional standards. The RN will care for patients across all age groups, from newborns to geriatric patients, ensuring that each individual receives appropriate and compassionate care. The position requires a commitment to continuous learning and professional development, as nurses will be expected to complete various training and certifications within specified timeframes after hire. Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and provide patient care under the general direction of the Director or Manager.
  • Assume individual responsibility and accountability for the provision of nursing care.
  • Provide nursing care in accordance with hospital policies and procedures, applicable state Nursing Practice Acts, and professional standards.
  • Triage patients based on immediate observation and acute assessment skills.
  • Treat symptoms in order of life-threatening priority.
  • Care for patients across all age groups, from birth to geriatric patients.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ADN or BSN required).
  • Current Kansas RN licensure or multi-state compact license required.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required.
  • Current AHA ACLS certification to be obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • NIH Stroke training to be completed successfully within 90 days of hire.
  • TNCC and ENPC certifications to be completed within 6 months of hire.
  • PALS certification is recommended but not required.
  • Minimum of 1 year ER experience preferred.
