About the position

At Overland Park Regional Medical Center, we are dedicated to providing excellent care to our patients, and we support our colleagues in their roles. We are currently seeking a PRN Registered Nurse for our Medical Surgical unit. This position is crucial as Med/Surg nurses are the master coordinators of the unit, responsible for managing patient care while ensuring effective communication among the healthcare team. The role requires high-level critical thinking skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure, as nurses will be caring for general surgery and medical patients, including overflow from trauma and other surgeries. Our Medical Surgical unit consists of 24 beds and offers ample opportunities for professional growth, including roles in charging, precepting, and unit council certification. As a PRN Registered Nurse, you will coordinate and provide patient care under the general direction of the Nursing Director or Manager, taking individual responsibility and accountability for nursing care. This care must align with hospital policies, state Nursing Practice Acts, and the ANA Standards of Practice. We pride ourselves on being one of the largest employers of nurses in the United States, with over 94,000 nurses in our network. Education is a cornerstone of our practice, and we offer various programs to support continuous learning and professional development. Our affiliation with Galen College of Nursing and other educational institutions within the HCA Healthcare family makes it easier and more affordable for our nurses to gain certifications and enhance their job skills. If you are passionate about nursing and eager to grow in your career, we encourage you to apply for this position.
