Shoup Legal, A Professional Law Corporation, is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our dynamic team in Murrieta, California. As a Paralegal, you will play a crucial role in assisting attorneys with all aspects of probate and estate administration. This includes drafting legal documents, preparing court filings, and managing case files. You will be expected to communicate effectively with clients, probate courts, and other parties involved in the probate proceedings, ensuring that all parties are kept informed throughout the process. In this position, you will conduct legal research and analysis related to probate matters, maintain accurate and up-to-date records of case information and deadlines, and assist with scheduling appointments and managing attorney calendars. You will also be responsible for drafting Inventory and Appraisals, Accountings, and other necessary documents for review by the Probate Examiner and submission to Probate Courts. Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys with all aspects of probate and estate administration, including drafting legal documents, preparing court filings, and managing case files.
  • Communicate with clients, probate courts, and other parties involved in the probate proceedings.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis related to probate matters.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of case information and deadlines.
  • Assist with scheduling appointments and managing attorney calendars.
  • Draft Inventory and Appraisals, Accountings and other necessary documents for review by Probate Examiner and submission to Probate Courts.
  • Communicate with clients on a regular basis throughout the representation with updates.
  • Assist attorneys in preparing cases for hearings.
  • Maintain case management database.
  • Daily accurate entry into the Case Management System with no more than 15% of total time allocated to administrative work.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience working as a paralegal in a law firm is required, focus on probate and estate administration is preferred.
  • Ability to reliably commute to the Murrieta, CA office required.
  • Bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program preferred.
  • A fundamental understanding of estate planning/administration concepts OR related experience is a bonus.
  • Possess strong multi-tasking and time management skills.
  • Be willing to perform administrative tasks as needed.
  • Superb communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Be a self-starter who is also detail oriented.
  • Display a positive attitude.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research databases.
  • Be able to learn new software with ease.
  • Have excellent spelling, typing and grammar skills.
  • Ability to type between 40-50 words per minute.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of discretion, confidentiality and integrity in the handling of personal client information, including following the Rules of Professional Conduct.
  • Exhibit a strong work ethic with high standards for quality and quantity of work.
