About the position

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented probate paralegal to join our legal team at The Florida Probate & Family Law Firm. In this role, you will assist in preparing legal documents, filing motions, coordinating meetings, and conducting legal research. The ideal candidate will be an experienced professional with a strong organizational skill set and a keen attention to detail. You will play a crucial role in supporting our attorneys and ensuring that our clients receive the highest level of service. As a probate paralegal, your responsibilities will include coordinating law office activities, drafting subpoenas, and working closely with process servers. You will draft various legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence, including interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, complaints, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and affidavits under the guidance of a lawyer. Conducting interviews with clients to gather pertinent information about their legal issues will also be a key part of your role. You will aid lawyers in trial preparation by preparing and organizing exhibits, coordinating witnesses, conducting research on legal articles, and assisting with client meetings and filing motions. Additionally, you will be responsible for organizing our case filing systems to ensure all documents are properly sorted and easily accessible. Your role will also involve assisting with the administration and litigation of probate estates, including drafting and filing probate pleadings, preparing and filing court forms, and managing the probate process from start to finish. You will work with clients to gather and organize necessary documents for probate administration and estate planning, as well as prepare estate planning documents such as wills, trusts, and powers of attorney. Communication with clients, beneficiaries, and other parties involved in probate administration and estate planning matters will be essential, as will managing multiple tasks and deadlines while maintaining accurate and complete records.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate law office activity, including the drafting subpoenas and coordinating with process servers
  • Draft legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence such as interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, complaints, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and affidavits under the guidance of a lawyer
  • Conduct interviews with clients to gather information about their legal issues
  • Aid lawyers in trial preparation by preparing and organizing exhibits, organizing and coordinating witnesses, conducting research on legal articles, and assisting with client meetings and filing motions
  • Organize our case filing systems to ensure all documents are properly sorted and easy to locate, and other administrative duties as needed
  • Assist with the administration and litigation of probate estates, including drafting and filing of probate pleadings, preparing and filing court forms, and managing the probate process from start to finish
  • Assist with guardianship administration and litigation cases
  • Work with clients to gather and organize necessary documents and information for probate administration and estate planning
  • Prepare estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, and powers of attorney
  • Prepare legal documents, including correspondence and pleadings
  • Communicate with clients, beneficiaries, and other parties involved in probate administration and estate planning matters
  • Manage multiple tasks and deadlines, prioritize work assignments, and maintain accurate and complete records

Requirements

  • Strong preference for candidates who have completed a paralegal professional certification or have an advanced paralegal education
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and talent for writing and grammar
  • Must have great time-management skills, and organizational skills
  • 3 years of experience in legal services under an attorney or lawyer in a law firm setting
  • 3+ years of experience working in a probate or family law firm
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in legal research, writing, and drafting legal documents
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
