About the position

The Probation and Parole Supervisor for Adults is responsible for overseeing and managing a team of Probation and Parole Officers and Specialists. This role involves ensuring the effective delivery of probation, parole, and related services, while providing guidance, technical assistance, and supervision to subordinate personnel. The supervisor will also be involved in personnel management, training, and compliance monitoring within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and provide guidance to Probation and Parole Officers and Specialists.
  • Conduct periodic audits and reviews to ensure accuracy and legal compliance in casework.
  • Coordinate activities related to the violation process, including planning arrests and revocation hearings.
  • Monitor casework activities to ensure proper use of community resources and enforcement of conditions.
  • Conduct new employee orientation and in-service training for field personnel.
  • Participate in personnel management, including selection processes and disciplinary actions.
  • Manage statistical and administrative functions and special programs as delegated.
  • Serve as the district's American Correctional Association (ACA) coordinator and maintain certification.
  • Assist in conducting jail operation audits and disciplinary hearings for inmates.

Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree plus three years of professional level experience in adult probation and parole.
  • Six years of full-time work experience in any field may substitute for the required degree.
  • Possession of a valid Louisiana driver's license at the time of appointment.
  • Willingness and ability to handle and carry firearms.

Nice-to-haves

  • Graduate training in corrections, criminology, criminal justice, counseling, penology, psychology, or social work may substitute for experience.
