About the position

The Process Automation Engineer III at IPS is responsible for applying engineering expertise to develop and implement automation solutions for pharmaceutical, biotech, and animal health facilities. This role involves managing project tasks, collaborating with teams, and ensuring compliance with industry standards while delivering high-quality designs and specifications for process control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates subject matter expertise by developing department standards and improving existing work practices.
  • Manages and delegates tasks to meet project scope, schedule, and deadlines.
  • Captures high-level descriptions of automation solutions in drawing and report formats.
  • Coordinates with project managers to determine project scope, complexity, and schedule for project development.
  • Writes scope of work for process, utilities, and manufacturing controls based on preliminary reviews with the client.
  • Reviews and advises clients on design decisions and capturing all pertinent decisions in project reports.
  • Actively collaborates with the process design and project teams to support the execution of successful project studies.
  • Develops the design and specifications for DCS, PLC, and SCADA-based process control systems for IPS clients and projects.
  • Performs automation-related job functions as assigned, including I/O lists, Instrumentation lists, and the specification of instrumentation and control elements.
  • Supports IQ/OQ development and participates in systems analysis, validation, and verification.
  • Identifies, qualifies, and collaborates with third-party system integrators as necessary to support project and company business objectives.
  • Works with end users and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to coordinate the application of automation products.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of diversified engineering experience with in-depth knowledge of industry requirements and applications within the Process Automation market.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering - ME/EE/ChemE/Automation/Manufacturing - or equivalent degree from an accredited university.
  • 2+ years of experience with industrial process control systems including DCS, PLC, and SCADA-based systems.
  • 2+ years of experience with Pharmaceutical process instrumentation.
