The Warehouse Process/Automation Engineer at Lilly is a pivotal role focused on the maintenance and continuous improvement of the Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) and Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) fleet within the Indianapolis Device Assembly and Packaging (IDAP) Warehouse. This position is not only about technical expertise but also requires strong leadership and collaboration across various functions. The engineer will coordinate and lead continuous improvement projects, troubleshoot issues, and oversee maintenance activities for warehouse systems, ensuring that operations run smoothly and efficiently. In this role, the engineer will drive lean principles to maintain effective processes and work closely with business leaders to identify and address business needs. They will lead multidisciplinary teams that include members from manufacturing, quality, and other business units to support robotic systems that meet the demands of the business. The engineer will also provide subject matter expertise for ASRS and AGV systems, lead root cause investigations, and support validation activities such as process commissioning, qualification, and Computer System Validation (CSV). Additionally, the engineer will be responsible for developing system monitoring reports that aid in reliability assessments and business decision-making. They will ensure that new assets delivered to the site can be integrated into the automated warehouse design and supported by the site technical staff. The role also involves defining maintenance strategies, including spare parts management and job planning, while championing safety activities and promoting a culture of diversity, ethics, and compliance within the workplace.
