About the position
The Process Control and Automation Engineer will join BASF's Global Engineering team, focusing on enhancing process automation systems and driving sustainability initiatives across manufacturing sites in North America. This role involves collaboration with global teams to implement best practices in process control technology, ensuring operational excellence while minimizing environmental impact.
Responsibilities
- Identify, champion, implement, and maintain Process Automation Systems with a focus on Process Control Technology.
- Collaborate with global teams to drive sustainability goals and address modern challenges.
- Guide sites in achieving autonomous operations and digitalization in process automation.
- Lead the development and implementation of best practices across the organization.
- Travel to BASF sites to support automation and process control improvements, including optimization and troubleshooting.
- Provide expertise in modernization and migration projects, including project scope development and vendor evaluation.
- Manage complex projects effectively.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Chemical or Electrical Engineering with 10+ years of experience in process control projects in the Chemicals, Refining, or Petrochemicals industry.
- Expertise in process control technology and experience with Process Automation Systems.
- Strong background in instrumentation and controls, with knowledge of chemical processes.
- Ability to analyze complex chemical processes and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Experience with control systems such as ABB 800xa, Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell TDC/Experion, Schneider Foxboro, and Siemens PCS7.
Nice-to-haves
- Advanced degrees in Chemical Engineering considered as relevant experience.
- Experience in managing migration and greenfield projects.
