About the position

Our client, a global leader in atmospheric, process and specialty gases, equipment, and technologies, is seeking a Process Control and Instrumentation Engineer to join our America team. The ideal candidate will have experience with Siemens PCS 7 and have it on their resume which will align successfully with the organization. This position is crucial for developing process controls execution strategies in conjunction with the overall project development team, both locally and with remote engineering centers. The engineer will participate in P&ID development and Operability and Hazard Reviews, ensuring that all aspects of the process control systems are thoroughly vetted and optimized for safety and efficiency. In this role, the engineer will be responsible for authoring, checking, or approving specifications of process control equipment, including control valves, relief valves, flow measurement devices, process instrumentation, analytical systems, and DCS, PLC, and SCADA systems. The engineer will also identify and manage process controls technical risk items, ensuring that all potential issues are addressed proactively. Additionally, managing the functional project team's schedule, budget, and quality will be a key responsibility. This team may consist of a local in-house design team, a geographically remote engineering and design center, or an outside engineering EPC, making strong communication and project management skills essential for success.

Responsibilities

  • Develop process controls execution strategies in conjunction with overall project development team (both locally and with remote engineering centers)
  • Participate in P&ID development and Operability and Hazard Reviews
  • Author, check or approve specifications of process control equipment including control valves, relief valves, flow measurement devices, process instrumentation, analytical systems, and DCS, PLC, and SCADA systems
  • Identify and manage process controls technical risk items
  • Manage your functional project team's schedule, budget, and quality.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in chemical, mechanical, or electrical engineering
  • At least 8 years of applicable work experience
  • Demonstrated deep understanding of the design and implementation of control and instrumentation systems for process plants
  • Experience developing BPCS/SIS architectures, control applications, and hardware specifications using Siemens PCS7.
