About the position

The Process Control Engineer 2 role at Belcan involves working closely with suppliers and design engineers to ensure robust process controls for nonmetallic components. The engineer will oversee the entire lifecycle of supplier processes, from design to production, ensuring quality management and adherence to APQP standards. This position is crucial for maintaining product quality and implementing effective solutions for engineering issues.

Responsibilities

  • Work with suppliers and design engineers on nonmetallic components such as injection molded, thermoformed, blow molded, rotomolded, rubber, insulation, etc.
  • Ensure robust process controls are in place to address and prevent defects and develop new parts following APQP steps.
  • Responsible for the supplier's processes from design concept to the end of product life.
  • Ensure the adequacy of the supplier's quality management system and the capability of people, training, tooling, fixturing, and equipment.
  • Provide technical support during start-up activities.
  • Ensure APQP activities related to process control are being performed by the supplier.
  • Monitor supplier adherence to Process Change Notification (PCN) on a timely and cost-effective basis.
  • Manage supplier's project plans and activities to ensure product meets company's expectations.
  • Ensure all relevant requirements and related changes are thoroughly documented.
  • Review APQP documentation (e.g., Process FMEA, Process Control Plans, Gage R&R).
  • Participate in process FMEA for suppliers' manufacturing processes.
  • Audit process control implementation and effectiveness.
  • Validate process capability when applicable.
  • Ensure PPAP completion and approval prior to shipment of new parts.
  • Ensure resolution and implementation of robust solutions for quality problems associated with purchased materials and engineering issues.
  • Review, approve, and validate 8D permanent corrective action plans.
  • Participate in the development of Supplier quality metrics and in Supplier Performance Management (SPM).
  • Manage the completion of their own work assignments and coordinate work with others.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required in related field (Engineering)
  • 1-4 years of experience in the field
  • Thorough knowledge of APQP activities
  • Must have a thorough working knowledge of quality initiatives
  • Experienced in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Teams, Sharepoint etc.)
  • Experience with non-metallic components and processes is desired
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Maintains the highest ethical and professional standards.
