About the position

The Process Control Engineer will collaborate with suppliers and design engineers to manage non-metallic components, ensuring robust process controls are established to prevent defects. This role involves overseeing the supplier's processes from design to product life cycle, ensuring compliance with quality management systems, and providing technical support during start-up activities. The engineer will also monitor adherence to process change notifications and manage project plans to meet Caterpillar's expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Work with suppliers and design engineers on non-metallic components.
  • Ensure robust process controls are in place to address and prevent defects.
  • Develop new parts following the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) steps.
  • Oversee the supplier's processes from design concept to end of product life.
  • Ensure the adequacy of the supplier's quality management system.
  • Provide technical support during start-up activities.
  • Monitor supplier adherence to Process Change Notification (PCN).
  • Manage supplier's project plans and activities to ensure product meets Caterpillar expectations.
  • Document all relevant requirements and related changes.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of job-related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes used to produce components and assemblies.
  • Thorough knowledge of APQP activities.
  • Working knowledge of quality initiatives.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 (Excel, Teams, Sharepoint, etc.).
  • Good interpersonal communication, analytical, leadership, and project management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with non-metallic components and processes.
  • Quality engineering certification.
  • Capable of using and demonstrating statistical and problem-solving tools.
  • Understanding of 3rd party registration standards.
