About the position

As a Process Control Engineer at PPG Industries, you will provide technical expertise in designing, maintaining, and modifying process control and safety systems for chemical and specialty material production processes. This role is critical in ensuring the efficiency and safety of operations at the Barberton, OH plant, where you will support 24/7 operations and collaborate with various engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and support for the site's 24/7 operations regarding safety and process control systems, process instrumentation, DCS, and PLCs.
• Use technical knowledge and data analysis skills to troubleshoot process control systems.
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities on control and electrical systems.
• Support production and maintenance departments in continuous improvement, yield improvement, and efficiency improvements.
• Manage installation and startup of instrumentation and automation projects, including capital projects, ensuring they meet functional, budgetary, and timeline requirements.
• Work with other engineering disciplines to provide instrumentation and automation support for broader mechanical and chemical projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering field.
• 5+ years' experience working in an industrial manufacturing or chemical process environment.
• Experience with variable frequency drives, PLC programming, and HMI programming.
• Experience with process instrumentation in an industrial environment.
• Experience reading and interpreting P&IDs and electrical drawings.
