About the position

The position involves providing process control leadership and engineering support to the Operations Team, focusing on the development of guidelines to ensure safe and efficient plant operations. The role includes managing DCS commissioning activities, performing Enterprise Historian administration, and participating in Process Hazard Analysis. The engineer will also be responsible for managing control systems, implementing control strategies, and supporting project engineering groups in the installation of new equipment and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide process control leadership and engineering support to the Operations Team.
  • Manage DCS commissioning activities including loop checks.
  • Perform Enterprise Historian administration (currently OSI PI).
  • Participate in Process Hazard Analysis (i.e., HAZOPs, What Ifs).
  • Comply with the Management of Change process; review proposals and integrate changes as needed.
  • Carry out process control MOC's action items.
  • Ensure all incidents are promptly reported and participate in investigations as necessary.
  • Manage I/O and SIS functional checks.
  • Review and recommend changes to plant safety loops, interlocks, alarm list, etc.
  • Implement control strategies in Delta V, Honeywell-Experion, Rockwell, PLC's, and HMI's.
  • Support project engineering groups in planning and installing new equipment and process control systems.
  • Initiate and develop process control modifications for improved safety and efficiency.
  • Implement/upgrade DCS graphics to high performance graphics.
  • Manage DCS and PLCs systems through their life cycle; maintain equipment and software.
  • Utilize best automation practices by writing functional specifications and design documents.
  • Work with site IT personnel to support reliable network infrastructure and historical data.
  • Provide on-call support to DCS/PLC systems.
  • Work within compliance with site safety and environmental rules.
  • Develop special procedures involving process controls engineering knowledge.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical or Electrical Engineering).
  • 5-15+ years of experience in the process industry.
  • Experience with Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation.
  • 5-15+ years of experience in DCS/Process control in a Chemical Processing plant.
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to influence at a local level and across a broad organization.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
