As a Process Control Engineer, you will maintain the control system infrastructure and assist in the design of process control logic while coordinating system implementation. Your role will involve performing analysis of hardware and software used in the production process. You will be responsible for providing design, implementation, and support for existing and new Process Control systems, including Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's), and custom control applications to meet manufacturing needs and production goals. In this position, you will handle system backups, network troubleshooting, and computer hardware maintenance. Effective communication and collaboration with various operational, environmental, maintenance, and engineering levels in a team environment are essential, as is the ability to work independently to accomplish individual goals. You will also be expected to develop and execute migration plans for legacy controls platforms, evaluate processes and equipment operation, and manage process improvement projects. Familiarity with reading and understanding P&ID's, loop sheets, and electrical drawings is crucial. Safety is a priority at Westrock, and you will be expected to adhere to all mill safety rules, participate in safety programs and meetings, and promote a culture of safety among your coworkers. This includes demonstrating active caring for co-workers, learning job-related Safe Operating Procedures, maintaining a clean and orderly workplace, and reporting any unsafe conditions or near misses immediately.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the control system infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Must have Honeywell DCS experience.
  • B.S. Degree in Chemical or Electrical Engineering preferred; other engineering or computer science degrees acceptable with adequate DCS/PLC and HMI application experience.
  • Minimum of two years of industrial experience with a degree, or 10+ years of industrial experience in PLC and HMI applications if non-degreed.
