About the position

U. S. Steel is seeking a Process Control Engineer to join our Process Control Steelmaking organization. This role is pivotal in designing, developing, maintaining, and enhancing process control hardware and software solutions within a heavy industrial environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for optimizing and improving industrial plant process control solutions to align with business requirements. This position requires a collaborative approach, as the engineer will interact with personnel across various levels of the organization, both individually and as part of a team. The Process Control Engineer will translate business requirements into effective industrial application solutions. This includes supporting production hardware and software applications, SCADA systems, Graphical HMI applications, and LAN communications. A strong knowledge of industrial plant process control systems is essential, including programming and technical support capabilities. The engineer will also be tasked with analyzing both short- and long-term hardware, software, equipment, and instrumentation requirements, providing appropriate and cost-effective technical solutions. In addition to technical skills, the role demands excellent communication abilities, as the engineer will interface with departmental management, operations management, operating crews, and control system support personnel. The ability to provide process control support in a 24x7 industrial environment is crucial. At U. S. Responsibilities

  • Optimize and improve industrial plant process control solutions to meet business requirements.
  • Translate business requirements into industrial application solutions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledgeable in industrial plant process control systems, including programming and technical support.
  • Capable of analyzing hardware, software, equipment, and instrumentation requirements.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills for interfacing with various personnel.
  • Ability to provide process control support in a 24x7 industrial environment.
