About the position

The Process Control Engineer at Georgia-Pacific will be responsible for enhancing the reliability and functionality of control systems and instrumentation within the corporate Process Control Center of Excellence. This role involves remote problem-solving and collaboration with various manufacturing operations across the U.S., focusing on optimizing control strategies and ensuring safe and efficient operations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure facility control systems are operating safely, reliably, efficiently
  • Provide troubleshooting and support of the daily manufacturing operation
  • Provide guidance to manufacturing operations on selection and implementation of process control technologies and strategies
  • Optimize existing control strategies to more efficiently create products
  • Assist in designing, programming, modifying, and maintaining mills' control systems
  • Pursue engineering solutions to resolve equipment deficiencies
  • Support control migrations, design, and startup of existing and new systems

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or related technical degree with 5+ years of experience in continuous manufacturing operation
  • 5+ years of professional experience with DCS or PLC based systems including troubleshooting, configuration, and design
  • Ability to travel approximately 50-75%

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Chemical, Electrical, or Paper Science Engineering
  • Experience working in the pulp and paper industry
  • 5 or more years of professional experience with DCS and PLC based control systems including troubleshooting, configuration, and design
  • Experience with Honeywell TDC and Experion or Emerson Delta-V
