The Process Controls Engineer at Castings will play a crucial role in the development, implementation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and programming of process equipment, including Molten Metal furnaces, cooling water systems, distributed control systems, and high-end instrumentation. This position requires a proactive approach to take ownership of the processes associated with such equipment. The ideal candidate will not only focus on the technical aspects but also contribute to the design of robust and stable equipment, ensuring effective project execution and ramping up equipment until production begins. In this role, you will participate in the initial conceptual development of equipment, balancing product specifications, process requirements, layout complexity, cost, and lead-time limits. You will be responsible for implementing and managing continuous process optimization, incorporating both advanced and conventional technologies to enhance quality, productivity, and reduce overall waste. Additionally, you will lay out new industrial electrical control panels compliant with NFPA79/NEC/UL508A standards and create electrical, pneumatic, and fluid schematics. Your responsibilities will also include developing and maintaining proper documentation for all electrical equipment and associated procedures, ensuring updates are made as required. You will implement ANSI/OSHA compliant control reliable safety systems for safeguarding furnaces, pressurized water systems, hydraulic systems, and other high-volume manufacturing equipment. Furthermore, you will focus on optimizing and improving human-machine interfaces, SCADA systems, and MES interfaces. A significant part of your role will involve architecting, developing, and debugging PLC code, emphasizing organized, structured, documented, maintainable, and reusable code. This PLC code will interact with subsystems such as pumps, heaters, valves, PID controllers, gas combustion systems, and third-party equipment. The position may require travel for Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and equipment installation and commissioning.
