Responsibilities

  • Run experiments, collect data, and analyze samples following operating procedures and analytical protocols.
  • Assist in assembling and safely operating laboratory-scale extrusion and reactor systems.
  • Keep a lab notebook and carefully observe and report trends, anomalies, and unexpected results.
  • Run routine analytical tests using GC, HPLC, ICP, and TGA of samples from micro-units and small pilot plants.
  • Write Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and conduct safety reviews, participating in training as needed.
  • Aid in the design and development of pilot and commercial plants based on research findings.
  • Partner with the team running the large pilot plant in Texas and the technology licensing partner company to expedite commercial plant design.
  • Provide R&D summaries and presentations to senior management and customers.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Chemical Engineering.
  • Consideration for Chemists with experience in building and running small scale pilot plants.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an industrial R&D environment, including co-ops and internships.
  • Experience in scaling up processes from bench to pilot plant scale.
  • Mechanical aptitude for building, setting up, and troubleshooting lab equipment.
  • Knowledge of extrusion processes or polymer processing unit operations.
  • Experience with LabView is a plus.
  • Must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer without sponsorship now or in the future.
