About the position

The Process Engineer role at Ardagh Group focuses on providing technical support and process improvements for aluminum beverage can manufacturing facilities across North America. The position involves visiting various plants to implement upgrades, train employees, and troubleshoot issues to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety. The engineer will also manage equipment upgrades, analyze performance data, and integrate new technologies to optimize production processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for bodymakers and trimmers across seven aluminum beverage can facilities in North America.
  • Report on project visits to the local team, Process Engineering Line Manager, and peers.
  • Assist in managing the Capex budget for equipment wellness programs.
  • Support the achievement of sector cost savings initiatives as budgeted annually.
  • Provide technical support to operations to meet annual budget targets.
  • Manage equipment upgrades and conversions within project timelines.
  • Stay updated on new diagnostic tools and implement them in Ardagh Metal - Beverage N.A. locations.
  • Travel to plant locations to troubleshoot and resolve issues affecting budgetary goals.
  • Train employees on Standard Operating Procedures to maintain corporate standards.
  • Investigate and integrate new technologies into manufacturing processes.
  • Lead manufacturing improvement initiatives and standardization efforts.
  • Conduct studies of existing line equipment and recommend improvements to increase productivity and reduce costs.
  • Collaborate with plants and equipment vendors to enhance production throughput.
  • Analyze systems data to identify performance improvement areas.
  • Develop and share Best Practices across the system with plants and vendors.
  • Establish performance expectations and acceptance criteria for new equipment.
  • Submit proposals for equipment upgrades to management.
  • Define maintenance requirements and strategies for new equipment.
  • Assist in the start-up of new products and equipment.
  • Conduct Equipment Mechanical Audits and provide reports on specifications and recommendations.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience in management roles in engineering or operations.
  • Extensive knowledge of can manufacturing equipment, particularly bodymakers and trimmers; knowledge of cupping presses is preferred.
  • Experience in managing cross-functional projects.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and functions.
  • Excellent analytical skills to interpret complex projects while maintaining a strategic overview.
  • Ability to prioritize under time pressure and lead teams to deliver high-quality results.
  • Comfortable multitasking and switching between detailed discussions and strategic reviews.
