The Process Engineer 5 position at Lam Research involves performing professional process engineering research, development, and evaluation to support the company's complex semiconductor capital equipment and systems. The role requires a deep understanding of processing techniques and methods applied in the manufacture, fabrication, and evaluation of products. The engineer's involvement may begin at any step from pilot plant to full-scale manufacturing, ensuring that processes are optimized for efficiency and effectiveness. In this role, the engineer will conceive and plan projects that involve defining and selecting new concepts and approaches in the processing or development of new processes. This includes compiling and evaluating test data to determine appropriate limits and variables for process specifications. The Process Engineer will also support customer technology managers in planning, data collection, analysis, and reporting of customer demos to defend existing process applications. A key aspect of the job is driving the adoption of new technology at customer sites, which involves working closely with customers to demonstrate and introduce new technologies through demos, on-site evaluations, and new tool qualifications. Collaboration is essential, as the engineer will work with customers and senior engineers cross-functionally to understand roadmaps, process flows, inflection points, requirements, and business challenges. Additionally, the engineer will liaise with suppliers to ensure that required parts and supplies are available, contributing to product development and release activities. The role may also involve acting as a single point of contact for process-related requests, providing leadership and guidance to less experienced colleagues, and leading small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements. The Process Engineer will professionally represent the company to customers, utilizing knowledge of the company's product lines and services to keep existing and potential customers informed of new or additional needs. Addressing potential issues at customer sites and providing alternative solutions will be a critical part of the role, driving the implementation of new solutions for the customer.
