About the position

The Process Engineer at AbbVie will leverage scientific and engineering knowledge to support the production of monoclonal antibodies and antibody-drug conjugates. This role involves troubleshooting processes, ensuring compliance with policies, and leading projects related to new product introduction. The engineer will work closely with various teams to implement changes and improvements in production processes, while also mentoring junior staff and managing resources effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Lead equipment and process troubleshooting efforts in collaboration with maintenance, quality, and manufacturing operations teams.
  • Perform Process / Facility fit activities for engineering and qualification runs of new products.
  • Plan and conduct small- to medium-size projects within engineering specialty, coordinating activities and monitoring implementation status.
  • Estimate and coordinate resources needed for assigned tasks, anticipating future directions and preparing for potential problems.
  • Independently execute the design of products, processes, and systems by applying standard engineering theories and techniques.
  • Create and modify designs for intermediate problems, writing detailed design specifications and predicting trends.
  • Improve methods, designs, and processes by implementing innovative solutions and cost reductions.
  • Mentor others by sharing technical expertise and providing feedback and guidance.
  • Direct the efforts of technicians and outside resources, writing necessary documentation such as SOPs and project proposals.
  • Follow the Change Management process, developing and presenting change requests and ensuring completion of tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, science, or a closely related discipline, or equivalent technical experience with 2+ years of engineering and/or operational experience.
  • Demonstrated competency within a discipline and working technical knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to analyze moderate scope problems and demonstrate judgment within defined procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to negotiate and reconcile differences with diverse groups.
  • Technical background in health care, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, biologics, or similar industries is preferred.
  • Experience in the development or manufacturing of antibody drug conjugates is preferred.
  • Experience with single-use consumables is preferred.
