About the position

The position involves working as a key packaging/process engineer within Apple's Camera Technologies group, focusing on the design and development of innovative camera systems. The role requires collaboration with various teams to research, design, develop, test, and qualify camera hardware, ensuring high-quality photography experiences for Apple products. The engineer will be responsible for establishing processes, equipment, and materials for camera modules, driving improvements in quality and reliability, and leading a team of engineers in Asia.

Responsibilities

  • Support complex camera modules including strobe and semiconductor packaging.
  • Define equipment, process, and material requirements for new camera hardware architecture.
  • Establish initial FMEA, DFM, and process/design guidelines for camera processes.
  • Formulate and recommend complex DOE to drive resolution and capability for process activities.
  • Drive FACA related to process impacting quality and reliability metrics.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams during early engineering development and initial production stages.
  • Lead a team of Asia-based process engineers in development and qualification.
  • Communicate issues and updates to senior management.
  • Participate in vendor selection and equipment strategy definition.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Prior relevant industry experience in semiconductor module packaging or related areas.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work with diverse cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform DOE, data analysis, and process capability control.
  • Experience in failure mode analysis, root cause investigation, and problem-solving for product yield and quality issues.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with subcontract manufacturing partners.
  • Knowledge of assembly manufacturing processes and high-volume manufacturing.
  • Production ramp experience.
