About the position

The Process Engineer in Chemical Manufacturing at Xerox is responsible for providing essential engineering support to resin production operations. This role involves active participation in the daily management of plant activities, ensuring that production schedules are met and that various performance metrics are achieved. The engineer will lead initiatives aimed at process improvement and productivity enhancement, playing a crucial role in the operational efficiency of the plant. In this position, the engineer will supervise a team of industrial workforce personnel, which includes both operations and maintenance staff. A significant part of the role involves troubleshooting polymer manufacturing equipment, control systems, and processes to ensure smooth operations. The engineer will also be involved in supporting various productivity projects, which may require a hands-on approach to problem-solving and innovation. The role requires flexibility, as shift rotations are mandatory, and the engineer must be willing to work overtime as needed. Physical capability is essential, as the position requires passing OSHA medical clearance exams, including the ability to wear a respirator. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is necessary, along with experience in PLC, Variable Frequency Drive, SCADA, and electro-mechanical applications being preferred. Strong communication skills, both written and oral, are vital for effective collaboration within the team and across departments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide process engineering support to resin production operations.
  • Supervise Bargaining Unit industrial workforce personnel including Operations and Maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot polymer manufacturing equipment, control systems, and processes.
  • Support productivity projects and lead process improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure production schedule delivery and monitor plant performance metrics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Understanding of polymer chemistry, process control methods, and equipment.
  • Ability to work in both theoretical and hands-on application environments.
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with PLC, Variable Frequency Drive, SCADA, and electro-mechanical applications.
