About the position

Shaw Industries is seeking a Process Engineer specializing in Finishing and Carpet Seat Technology to join our team at Shaw Plant 81 in Dalton, Georgia. This role is pivotal in providing engineering insights and support to enhance the operational efficiency of our manufacturing processes. The Process Engineer will work closely with plant personnel and serve as a key engineering resource for both manufacturing and safety leadership within the plant. As a leader in flooring and surface solutions, Shaw Industries is committed to innovation and operational excellence. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the Finishing process and key components of the CST/Reshear Line. This includes supporting safety, quality, and production initiatives on both the Finishing Line and CST line. The Process Engineer will assist the Department Manager in daily operations, contribute to the development of new products, and drive continuous improvement in processes. In addition to these responsibilities, the Process Engineer will act as a technical resource for latex application and CST, learning to manage the flow of products through the departments while ensuring that customer requirements are met to produce high-quality products. Participation in various plant committees and leading improvement teams will be essential for success in this role. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to fostering a culture of safety and quality within the plant.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Finishing process along with key components CST/Reshear Line.
  • Support safety, quality, and production initiatives on both the Finishing Line and CST line.
  • Assist the Department Manager in daily operations.
  • Provide innovative assistance in developing new products.
  • Work on continuous improvement of processes.
  • Fill in for the Department Manager or Shift Supervisors as needed.
  • Become a technical resource for latex application and CST.
  • Learn systems to manage the flow of product through the departments.
  • Understand customer requirements to ensure the manufacture of a quality product.
  • Serve on various plant committees and lead improvement teams.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree required; BA/BS in engineering or similar field preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
