About the position

The Process Engineer - Finishing will play a crucial role in a start-up aluminum processing facility, focusing on the optimization and enhancement of finishing processes. This position involves collaboration with production, maintenance, and quality teams to ensure efficient operations and high-quality standards in converting aluminum slabs into finished coils.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and optimize finishing processes such as slitting, blanking, hot forming, shaping, edging, coating, buffing, and painting.
  • Analyze and refine finishing stages to improve yield, reduce waste, enhance product quality, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Continuously monitor and optimize parameters for coating processes, buffing, and painting to maintain high-quality surface finishes.
  • Provide hands-on technical support to the production team, troubleshooting and resolving issues.
  • Work closely with the production and maintenance teams to ensure that finishing equipment is running optimally and downtime is minimized.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all finishing processes, ensuring consistency and high quality in production.
  • Ensure that all finishing processes meet quality specifications and industry standards.
  • Implement process control techniques, such as Statistical Process Control (SPC), to monitor and maintain consistent quality and minimize variations in finished product characteristics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience specifically in aluminum finishing processes, including slitting, blanking, hot forming, shaping, edging, coating, buffing, and painting.
  • Hands-on experience with roll forming, slitting lines, coating lines, buffing/polishing machines, and painting systems in an aluminum processing or manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific finishing techniques such as anodizing, powder coating, and pre-painted aluminum processing.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and optimizing finishing processes to improve product quality, reduce defects, and increase production efficiency.
