About the position

The Process Engineer I position within the Enterprise Transformation Office at Truist is a pivotal role responsible for designing and implementing process-oriented solutions that enhance operational effectiveness across the organization. This role requires a strong focus on change management and ensuring that new processes are adopted at all levels of the company. The individual in this position will work closely with various teams to analyze data, solve problems, and manage optimization projects that align with the organization's objectives. In this role, the Process Engineer I will own process models and procedures, acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) within their process vertical. They will be responsible for monitoring assigned processes against defined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), reporting on these metrics, and identifying any bottlenecks or variations that may hinder performance. The engineer will collaborate with operations partners to pinpoint opportunities for improvement and translate abstract issues into actionable work streams. Additionally, the Process Engineer I will facilitate sessions aimed at creating change in business processes from both technological and workflow perspectives. They will also provide oversight to junior teammates, ensuring the quality of their work and supporting them in their tasks. The role includes training production groups to foster awareness and adoption of the target state, as well as measuring the return on investment (ROI) of process improvement initiatives to ensure efficiency and profitability. Building strong relationships with key business partners is essential for the success of this role, as is the ability to navigate a fast-paced and complex work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Own process models and procedures as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the process vertical.
  • Monitor assigned processes in relation to defined KPIs and report on these metrics.
  • Identify bottlenecks and process variations causing KPIs to be missed.
  • Work with operations partners to identify opportunities and structure issues into manageable work streams.
  • Facilitate sessions to create change for business processes from a technological and workflow perspective.
  • Design and implement process-oriented solutions ensuring adequate change management and adoption.
  • Provide oversight and ensure quality of junior teammates' tasks and delivery.
  • Resolve or escalate risks or roadblocks within the assigned line of business.
  • Train and support production groups to ensure awareness and adoption of the target state.
  • Measure and monitor ROI of process improvement projects to ensure organizational efficiency.

Requirements

  • College Degree or equivalent education, or commensurate training and work-related experience.
  • Certified Six Sigma Green Belt with two years' experience applying the methodology.
  • Four years of project analyst or relevant industry experience in banking, financial services, or other services industry.
  • Experience leading optimization projects in financial services or transactional-based processes.
  • Ability to use research and data analytics to diagnose problems and recommend action plans.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams without formal authority.
  • Excellent skills in presentation, facilitation, communication, and negotiation.
  • Solid understanding of program and project management disciplines, techniques, and approaches.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, highly complex, results-driven environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and group facilitation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in business, engineering, design, or technology field; banking or financial management education.
  • Deep knowledge of operational and technical environments of financial institutions, including applicable banking laws and regulations.
  • Business Process Management (BPM) experience.
  • Certified Project Management Professional.
