About the position

The Process Engineer at GAF plays a crucial support role within the Production department, focusing on enhancing process efficiency, improving product quality, and implementing cost-saving initiatives. This position involves daily safety inspections, performance metrics analysis, continuous improvement efforts, and environmental compliance, all aimed at optimizing manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily safety inspections of working areas.
  • Engage with hourly teammates to discuss safety issues and enforce adherence to safety policies.
  • Support the Production department in achieving production rate, machine uptime, and raw material yield goals.
  • Utilize statistical tools to minimize variation in the production process.
  • Identify and remove bottlenecks in the manufacturing process using engineering principles.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to introduce new technologies to the Plant.
  • Coordinate with the Plant Engineer on capital projects to enhance production line efficiency.
  • Work with the quality department to identify and resolve quality issues in manufacturing.
  • Train hourly teammates on production line set-ups to maximize efficiency and product performance.
  • Submit required environmental reports to state and federal agencies and act as the main contact for the Plant's environmental consultant.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Paper Science required.
  • A minimum of 1+ years of manufacturing experience is required; co-op and/or internship experience may satisfy this requirement; roofing or paper industry experience is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work as a team player.
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering principles and knowledge of continuous web manufacturing process.
