About the position

The Process Engineer II at Saint-Gobain plays a crucial role in providing technical support for production processes, ensuring that products meet quality specifications through effective process control methods. This position is centered on technical support for operations, process development, optimization, equipment design, and project engineering. The engineer will be involved in trial planning and execution, focusing on process innovation in collaboration with CertainTeed and Saint-Gobain support groups. By applying process engineering fundamentals and advanced process control tools, the Process Engineer II will work to stabilize processes, reduce variations, and address special causes of variation. In this role, the engineer will analyze process variations, develop solutions, and implement corrective actions using advanced statistical tools to identify and resolve root causes of variations in the manufacturing process. Responsibilities include designing and developing new process systems, revising existing processes, and coordinating the implementation of projects that significantly contribute to plant profitability. The engineer will also interact with teams for operational troubleshooting, process improvement projects, and ensuring the availability of production materials and raw materials. This position reports directly to the Hot End Manager, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and communication within the team to achieve operational excellence and continuous improvement in manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for production using process control methods to ensure product quality specifications are met.
  • Focus on technical support for operations, process development, and optimization.
  • Design and develop new process systems and revise existing processes.
  • Develop and coordinate the implementation of projects that contribute to plant profitability.
  • Analyze process variations and develop solutions to implement corrective actions using advanced statistical tools.
  • Interact with teams for operational troubleshooting and process improvement projects.
  • Ensure availability of production materials and raw materials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Ceramic Engineering, Material Science, Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Three plus years of applied professional experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally in the glass or fiberglass industry.
  • Understanding of project management and project engineering fundamentals.
  • Working knowledge of PLC systems.
  • Working knowledge of advanced statistical tools used to reduce variations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving capabilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the glass or fiberglass industry is preferred.
  • Familiarity with advanced process control tools.
