About the position

The Process Engineer II, Machining position is responsible for developing, improving, and supporting all production processes associated with the launch, manufacture, and testing of products within a designated value stream or product line. This role is crucial in ensuring that manufacturing processes are efficient, compliant with design specifications, and continuously improved to meet production needs. The engineer will often direct, guide, or mentor Level I Process Engineers, prioritizing their workload based on the immediate needs of the production floor. In this role, the engineer will be involved in programming equipment, creating CNC code, and conducting tool path simulations. They will serve as the primary contact for design engineering or program management regarding manufacturing processes, ensuring that all manufacturing methods, Bill of Materials, and labor standards are accurately maintained in the ERP system. The engineer will also participate in continuous improvement (C.I.) activities and cost reduction initiatives, focusing on the design, construction, and validation of tooling, fixtures, gauges, and equipment. Additionally, the Process Engineer II will analyze manufacturing variances to identify key areas for improvement and troubleshoot manufacturing problems in a machining environment. They will support supply chain and quality initiatives, mentor Level I manufacturing engineers, and address customer complaints and concerns. The engineer will also provide support for Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives across the company. Compliance with the Company Corporate EHS Policy and adherence to safety protocols, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), is mandatory. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to remaining current with all required training and certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing processes while maintaining compliance to design specifications.
  • Programs equipment, creates CNC code, and conducts tool path simulations.
  • Acts as the primary contact for design engineering or program management on manufacturing processes.
  • Creates and maintains manufacturing methods, Bill of Materials, and labor standards in the ERP system.
  • Participates in activities related to continuous improvement and cost reductions/process improvements.
  • Designs, constructs, and validates tooling, fixtures, gauges, and equipment.
  • Implements workflow/cell design with a focus on waste reduction and process improvement.
  • Analyzes manufacturing variances to identify key areas in need of improvement.
  • Troubleshoots and solves manufacturing problems in a machining environment.
  • Supports Supply Chain and Quality with supplier development activities as needed.
  • Mentors and guides Level I manufacturing engineers.
  • Addresses customer complaints and concerns.
  • Provides support for Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives companywide.
  • Completes all required training as assigned and adheres to safety protocols.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including statistical analysis.
  • Knowledge of both manual and CNC machining equipment.
  • Ability to implement change and train employees in a production floor environment.
  • Excellent technical, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft products.
  • Ability to interpret 2D blueprints and 3D models, with a working knowledge of GD&T.
  • Minimum 5 years of CAD and CAM software experience required, with Mastercam and AutoCAD Inventor preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Four-year degree in engineering preferred (mechanical, aerospace, or manufacturing) or 10-15 years of progressive manufacturing job responsibility in lieu of degree.
