About the position

The Process Engineer III is responsible for applying principles, knowledge, and practices of process engineering to identify, analyze, and resolve process-related issues, ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-efficient plant operations. This role involves developing and implementing monitoring systems, providing engineering support to operations, and participating in incident investigations, among other responsibilities aimed at improving plant performance and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement appropriate plant/process monitoring and optimization systems and perform Equipment Performance Evaluations.
  • Provide process engineering assistance/support to the Operations Team as required.
  • Provide evaluations on assigned and self-initiated tasks to address abnormal and less efficient plant parameters.
  • Participate in incident investigation teams for troubleshooting and determining the root cause of plant issues/problems.
  • Assist in the re of changes to the plant 'cause and effect matrix' to improve plant reliability.
  • Support in the development of plant modifications for projects of varying complexity.
  • Understand and comply with the Management of Change (MOC) process.
  • Participate in 'What Ifs' and HAZOP studies.
  • Stay updated with state-of-the-art developments/technologies applicable to the methanol industry.
  • Provide necessary process engineering support to guide the timing of plant shutdowns and turnarounds.
  • Support plant shutdown and turnaround activities during planning and execution phases.
  • Work with contractors and outside vendors/suppliers to develop project concepts, quoting, and scope of work.
  • Provide process engineering support in the development and re of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Actively seek and pursue the development of skills needed to progress in engineering and leadership/management.
  • Support and promote a pro-active HSSE culture within the Organization.
  • Ensure and improve effective HSSE management and compliance audits.
  • Provide process engineering support to ensure plant operations pose no threat to the environment.
  • Provide technical support in the management of spills and hazardous substances.
  • Ensure effective Incident Management Response and timely reporting of incidents.
  • Provide process engineering support to assess abnormal Plant conditions and develop guidelines to mitigate these conditions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering required.
  • Minimum six (6) years of experience in Process Engineering required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Operating plant experience as a process engineer.
  • Experience working in syn gas/petrochemical/methanol/ammonia plants.
  • High pressure steam system header & energy management knowledge.
  • Understanding of process controls & advanced controls initiative- APC etc.
  • Exposure to process simulation.
