About the position

The Process Engineering Intern at Danfoss in Tallahassee, FL, will support the Operations team by assisting in various projects aimed at developing process flows, plant layouts, and conducting statistical analyses. The intern will troubleshoot problems and implement improvements to meet operational targets related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

Responsibilities

• Assist in evaluating and determining best methods for material handling processes
• Apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to determine workflow processes, staff requirements, and production standards
• Draft and design layout of equipment, materials, and workspace to illustrate maximum efficiency, using drafting and computer applications
• Assist in providing technical and operational support as needed
• Study operations sequence, material flow, organization charts and project information to determine worker functions and responsibilities
• Recommend methods for improving utilization of personnel, material and equipment
• Draft and document standard operating procedures (SOP) and Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA) for operations tasks and functions
• Conduct observations and time studies as required to implement engineered standards
• Assist in project activities
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, preferably juniors and above
• Proficient in 3D and 2D CAD, Mini Tab experience preferred, quality tools (problem solve, PFMEA), line design
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Strong Microsoft Office Skills
• Ability to sit/walk or stand for extended periods of time
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
• Available to work a minimum of 15-20 hours per week during business hours (8 am-5 pm Mon-Fri)
• Candidates must be located within 50 miles of the work location.
