About the position

Ingevity is seeking enthusiastic engineering interns to join our Engineering Internship Program, where you will have the unique opportunity to apply your problem-solving and technical skills in a real-world manufacturing environment. This internship is designed to enhance safety, efficiency, reliability, and productivity within our operations. As an intern, you will engage in value-added projects that support production and project engineering across various plants. Your role will involve innovating and improving processes, troubleshooting problems, and collaborating with a diverse team to tackle complex technical challenges. Safety and teamwork are paramount in this position, and you will be expected to contribute to a culture that prioritizes these values. The Engineering Internship Program typically lasts 12-14 weeks during the summer, with anticipated start dates in May 2025. Interns will have the opportunity to work in multiple locations, including Charleston, South Carolina; Covington, Virginia; and Wickliffe, Kentucky. By applying, you will be considered for all available locations and seasons based on your preferences and business needs. Throughout the internship, you will gain hands-on experience in the chemical and materials manufacturing industry, develop project leadership skills, and network with industry leaders. Additionally, housing assistance is available for eligible candidates relocating more than 50 miles from their primary residence. This internship is an excellent opportunity for students currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in Engineering, with an expected graduation date between December 2025 and May 2026. Candidates should have completed at least one semester of engineering coursework related to their major before starting the internship and must remain in good academic standing throughout the experience. The role requires critical thinking, project management skills, and a commitment to Ingevity's culture of safety, sustainability, and integrity. Flexibility to travel under 5% is also required.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in Engineering with an expected graduation date between December 2025 and May 2026.
  • Completed at least one semester of engineering coursework related to the major before starting the internship.
  • At least one semester of study left in academic coursework following the internship.
  • Maintain good academic standing throughout the internship experience.
  • Ability to think critically and troubleshoot technical challenges.
  • Ability to manage, organize, and prioritize projects independently.
  • Commitment to Ingevity's culture of safety, sustainability, and integrity.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous internship or work experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor's degree majors in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
