About the position

Dennis Group's Process Engineers are integral to our projects focused on designing and building food and beverage processing facilities. As a Process Engineer intern, you will engage in every aspect of a project, from controls and packaging to mechanical, electrical, building systems, and architecture. Your role will span from the conceptual stages through design completion and into construction, providing expertise in flow diagrams, alterations, constraints, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), layout, installation, and commissioning and start-up. This position is crucial for enabling operational efficiencies in the food and beverage process plants of our clients. In this internship, you will develop process design bases and select unit operations, create operation specifications, and coordinate with other project disciplines, including engineers, designers, and architects. You will prepare process flow and piping and instrumentation diagrams, create process flow diagrams, and prepare mass and energy balances. Additionally, you will size and specify process and process utility equipment, assist project management with the development of project scope, budget, and schedule for all process-related work, and help coordinate the schedules and work of contractors for process equipment installation. You will also work closely with clients, vendors, and suppliers to develop cost estimates and proposals, provide client assumptions on supply recommendations, and develop process and instrumentation drawings (P&IDs). Your responsibilities will include overseeing process and utility equipment installations, providing onsite construction start-up and commissioning support, researching process engineering best practices, and supporting talent growth within our organization. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the food and beverage industry while contributing to significant projects.
