About the position

Kiewit Industrial & Water Engineering is seeking an Entry Level Process Engineer to join their Engineering team in Lenexa, KS. This role focuses on developing water and wastewater infrastructure solutions across North America. The ideal candidate will assist in the execution and evaluation of project designs, working independently on small projects or as part of a larger team on more complex projects. Responsibilities include creating conceptual and detailed designs and calculations to support project execution, utilizing current technical tools and software.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering design support for domestic and/or international EPC/EPCm/DB projects, including engineering studies and environmental permitting.
  • Develop and prepare water mass balances, process flow diagrams (PFDs), and piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs) for various water treatment technologies.
  • Create design calculations and specifications for major engineered equipment related to water treatment technologies.
  • Prepare design deliverables in accordance with industry codes, contract requirements, and company standards.
  • Assist in preparing, monitoring, and updating project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Coordinate with internal and external partners to address process-related issues or concerns.
  • Support department managers in achieving performance goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) in Chemical or Environmental Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
  • 3.0 Cumulative GPA preferred.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred.
  • General knowledge of process/water treatment technologies in the municipal and industrial sectors.
  • Proficient in chemistry, thermodynamics, hydraulics, and fluid mechanics.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and accept multiple assignments.
  • Good communication and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic computer programs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledgeable in engineering software such as Mathcad, ASPEN, BioWin, GSP-X, or Matlab.
