About the position

The Process Engineer - Licensing at Occidental Chemical Corporation (OxyChem) plays a crucial role in supporting the company's licensing operations by developing engineering packages, reviewing engineering documents, and providing technical support for plant operations. This position emphasizes environmental protection and employee safety while contributing to the company's growth in the chemical manufacturing sector.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of employees, customers, and communities.
  • Implement VCM Licensing contracts through the development of the Basic Engineering Package (BEP) for licensees.
  • Review and approve licensee's detailed engineering documents.
  • Prepare proposal documents and attend technical negotiations to support Licensing sales.
  • Complete studies and various requests for engineering assistance, including process studies and design specifications.
  • Provide licensee plant start-up assistance and support the Catalyst business.
  • Provide process engineering expertise for plant capital projects and studies.
  • Provide technical support and training for plant engineers and technicians.
  • Maintain technical expertise in applicable codes, procedures, and process technology.
  • Assist in the evaluation, selection, and coordination of vendors for operational needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably VCM.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong knowledge of AspenTech process simulation products or similar.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and respond to callouts on a non-routine basis.
  • Ability to travel internationally for extended periods on short notice.

Nice-to-haves

  • Good working knowledge of SAP.
  • Experience in VCM plant operations or as a production supervisor.
  • Project management experience.
  • Plant design experience.
  • Experience with fluid bed oxychlorination and/or EDC cracking furnace.
